Privacy by design
Kelavi holds where you have been and when. That is about as personal as data gets, so the product is built to hold as little of it as possible, and to let go of all of it at once.
Your device goes first
Reading a photo's place and date, and checking whether it is sharp enough or nearly identical to another, all happen in your own browser — before anything is uploaded. A photo that does not pass never travels.
A photo only leaves if you keep it
Per photo you choose: keep it as a memory, or only mark the place. If you only mark the place, the image file itself is never uploaded — only the coordinates and the date.
Exact locations are encrypted
Precise coordinates and capture dates are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are written to the database. There is no plain-text location column. They are decrypted server-side only to draw your own map, or a map you have given someone access to.
A kept photo is re-encoded
Photos you keep are resized in your browser before upload. That re-encoding drops the metadata embedded in the file, including the GPS tag — so the stored image no longer carries a second, unencrypted copy of where you were.
Private by default
A new map is private. Sharing is a deliberate choice with two levels: a link you can revoke at any time, or a public link that is reachable by anyone who has it. Neither is ever switched on as a side effect of something else.
Never in search results
Personal and shared maps are excluded from search engines, both in the page itself and in the response headers. A hard-to-guess link is not a privacy measure, so Kelavi does not treat it as one.
No advertising, no analytics today
Kelavi does not sell your data and does not build an advertising profile. There is no analytics provider connected at all today; if that ever changes, it stays off until you allow it.
Deleting means deleting
Deleting your account removes your stored photos first, then the account — and with it every place, chapter note, share link and preference. It happens immediately, not after a waiting period, and it cannot be undone.
Not a backup
Kelavi is a place to keep meaning, not a photo archive. Keep your own originals. Deleting your Kelavi should be a normal thing to do, not a loss.
